The KNEC Artisan in Electrical Installation & Wireman is a vocational-level qualification under the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC). It is designed to equip learners with basic practical skills in electrical installation, wiring, and maintenance, suitable for entry-level work in domestic, commercial, and small industrial settings.
This is an artisan-level course, below the certificate level, with a strong focus on hands-on technical skills.
KCSE mean grade: D- (Plain)
Typically 6–12 months
Combines theory, workshop practice, and industrial attachment
Core units usually include:
Basic electrical principles
Direct Current (DC) and Alternating Current (AC) basics
Electrical safety and regulations
Wiring installation (domestic and commercial)
Fitting switches, sockets, and fixtures
Maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems
